There is a clear call for the revival of Dublin markets with as many as 94.7% of respondents indicating they would be interested in such spaces. Markets provide shelter and accessibility while fulfilling a diverse range of needs in a variety of social groups. Benefits include increasing people's social engagement, community outreach and promoting locality. By rejuvenating these derelict spaces as centres of social engagement we can build stronger communal connections and deepen our contemporary cultural spaces in the city centre. There are simply endless possibilities to the benefits of markets, from promoting small businesses, improving safety and providing cultural community spaces that are welcoming to all.
